Claire Poitras

Biologist

Claire brings a love of the outdoors and a strong spirit of teamwork to Blackbird. Born and raised in Fort St. John, she grew up exploring the lakes and rivers of the Peace region, a passion she continues today through camping, fishing, and hikes with her dog. Claire holds a B.Sc. in Natural Resource Management (Wildlife and Fisheries) from the University of Northern BC and is a Registered Professional Biologist with the College of Applied Biologists of BC.

At Blackbird, Claire is known for her collaborative approach, steady problem-solving skills, and mentorship. She thrives on teamwork, whether brainstorming ideas or tackling major projects, such as the large-scale linear disturbance reconnaissance projects she works on. Claire values the supportive, encouraging atmosphere at Blackbird that fosters both personal and professional growth.

Outside of work, Claire co-owns a local brewery, combining her appreciation for biology with a knack for crafting great beer – a venture that comes with fewer bug bites and plenty of pints.
