Ali Giesbrecht

Biologist/Agrologist

Ali is an environmental professional with a strong foundation in field-based ecology, resource stewardship, and community-focused work. Raised in Cranbrook, BC, Ali brings hands-on experience from the BC Ministry of Forests where she has supported ecosystem inventories, vegetation monitoring, and upland/wetland range health assessments in remote northern environments.

Ali holds a BSc in Environmental Science and is currently a Biologist in Training (BIT) and Articling Agrologist (AAg). Before joining government, she built a well-rounded background in environmental education and outreach working with the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC and Wildsight – and even spent a summer as an Assistant Trip Leader on the Columbia River Field School, helping lead youth on a two-week canoe expedition focused on ecology, outdoor skills, and local history.

Outside of work, Ali is happiest outdoors with friends and family, cheering on the Blue Jays, and chasing new adventures abroad (she’s already visited 15 countries!). Ali is excited to be part of the Blackbird community and looks forward to growing her professional knowledge.
