Originally from the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, Mikayla brings energy, curiosity, and a love of wildlife to Blackbird. A Biologist in Training, she has field experience on the BC Hydro herptile downstream monitoring project, where she developed amphibian and snake handling and identification skills. Mikayla values the strong sense of community at Blackbird, where colleagues support one another both personally and professionally, and she is excited to build a career dedicated to protecting the environment and local wildlife.
Outside of work, Mikayla enjoys staying active year-round – from overnight hikes and birding to skiing, snowshoeing, or boating and paddleboarding in the summer. She also has experience as a veterinary assistant, reflecting her long-standing passion for animals.
