As a Fort St. John local, Emily brings a passion and curiosity for learning, community, regional ecology, and interdisciplinary science to Blackbird. She grew up immersed in the agricultural community before completing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Victoria.
Emily is a registered Technical Agrologist and Registered Biology Technician in Training. She has a deep appreciation for Blackbird’s supportive and one-of-a-kind work culture. She is proud to lead field crews through her encouraging mentorship, collaborative problem-solving skills, and compelling incentives for completing difficult field days (usually a cold sweet treat or a baked good from Shepherd’s Inn).
Outside of work, Emily enjoys exploring the region’s diverse outdoor spaces, which inspire her various artistic endeavors, including rug hooking and painstakingly detailed botanical drawings.
